"Blue" Review Posted!

It's been a long time since I've updated...and yes, the review of the finale is still unfinished. But here's why:

1) Otto Berkeley wrote a stellar review of the finale at Smallville Guide, taking the words right out of my mouth. Although I'll still write my review, his review pretty much says it all.

2) You can't review a finale without writing about its impact of the season. And this finale impacted how I see Season Six in a major way. So I'm also writing an article on Season Six overall.

3) The Big Reason...I've been working on expanding Voice of Reason Online. I want it to include other shows, like Heroes, Lost, Supernatural, and the big one...Jericho. I've been working on writing for these other shows, and once I have enough content to make it worthwhile, I'll add those shows to the site. Here's the directory so far.

So I have been working, Voice of Reason Online is not going to end, and stay tuned, because in the next few months, this site just might get a whole lot larger. :)

Who's your favorite current writer/writing team?
(Remember, you're judging the writing, not the premise.)

MY VOTE:
My vote for favorite writer in S5 was Steven S. DeKnight. In S4 he turned potentially good premises into bad scripts (Ageless); in S5 he turned potentially disastrous premises into excellent scripts (Thirst, Splinter, Lockdown). His characters went from acting generically to living vividly.

In S6, that role became Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer's.

10.15.07 - Poll Results

The "Did Lana See Clark?" poll is closed with six votes total. Of course, most of the votes were cast after we pretty much knew the answer, but still...one person thought it was possible, one person thought she definitely saw Clark, and four thought No, she didn't.

11.18.06 - New Site

My reviews are now being posted on Smallville Guide - check it out!

5.5.06 - "Superman" Trailer

In case you haven't already seen it, there's a new "Superman Returns" Trailer on the WB58 site. I'm not sure how to link to it directly, but here's a link to the old Smallville trailer: the icon for the Superman trailer should appear on the right. Click on "Play" beneath the icon.

1.28.06 - Poll Results

The polls "Who WILL Die" and "Who SHOULD Die" are closed with a grand total of four votes (thanks, voters!). Interestingly, only one person thought the same person would and should die (Jor-El). The others thought that Jonathan, Martha, or Lana would die, and that Lex, Jor-El, or Nobody should die.

12.17.05 - New General Trailer

*SPOILERS* There's a new Smallville trailer up here. A) There seems to be a female standing in the background as Clark stands over the grave (the shoes look too pointed to be a man's). My guess, based on nothing but what she wore at Whitney's father's funeral, is Chloe. It's not the sort of thing Martha would wear, and although it could be Lana, she's been acting so odd recently that I would resent it if the writers tried to turn the life-changing funeral into a Clark-Lana moment. The writers would have to make sure to bar out all the romantic clichés they've fallen into - it would have to be, not about romance, but about each other. B) Clark is on the verge of telling Lana his secret...but considering his track record of trying to tell Lana his secret, that doesn't really mean anything.

12.02.05 - New "Lexmas" Trailer

Last night after a repeat airing of "Spirit," the WB showed a new "Lexmas" trailer. Because it played so much on the fantasy angle, I had a hard time judging anything from it - how realistic the shooting was, how believably the alternative future was portrayed, etc. I have never been a fan of episodes that portray "what could happen" and end almost exactly where they began without any conscious, purposeful action in-between (possessed episodes, dream episodes, etc.), so the trailer didn't make me think, "Wow, this will be good," but "We'll see."

11.26.05 - Smallville gets mention in Mensa magazine

This is a few months late, but "Smallville" was mentioned this year in the "Mensa Bulletin: The Magazine for American Mensa". (Mensa is an international society whose members score in the top 2% in IQ tests.) The article, about comic book writing, cited "Smallville" as an example of the popularity of comic book adaptations.
